About Lucy
I was born and raised in Edinburgh, however I’m actually half Finnish half English!
I come from a musical family, with my mum being a pianist and both my older sisters studied music.
I was fortunate to receive two scholarships to top conservatoires in the UK, and then moved to London in 2021 to study violin at the Royal College of Music, and I am currently in third year.
I was at Music school from the ages of 7 where I completed grade 8 piano and violin with distinction, and also achieved grade 8 music theory.
I won various competitions growing up, including the James Waterhouse piano competition 2 years in a row.
Whilst music is my passion, I also love sports and fashion, and occasionally make my own clothes..!

I take a caring and encouraging approach to teaching music, adjusted to the learners needs to make them feel comfortable and at ease. Music learning should be fun but structured, so I aim to keep things enjoyable, whilst also making sure we are always progressing. I have a 100% pass rate with ABRSM exams, and I know the system very well, having done ABRSM exams myself since a very young age.
My approach is based on my own experience as a musician. I have taken various methods from the fantastic world class teachers I’ve had over the years and incorporated them into my own lessons.
I believe establishing a good teacher-student
relationship is very important, and gaining the learners trust is always my first priority.
Whether you want to learn just for fun, or take it a bit more seriously and progress through the grades, I will tailor the lessons to suit you!
I started teaching violin with Edinburgh Young Musicians at the age of 14, before building up a number of my own private students in both piano and violin.
Currently, I teach both privately and with the council working in a primary school in London. I have experience teaching children from the ages of 4 up to 18, and I also have experience teaching children with special needs.
I recommend beginners start with a 1x30 minute lesson per week, and those more advanced have a 1x45 minute / 60 minute lesson per week.
