About Tabitha
My name is Tabitha and I am currently a third year combined English Literature and History student. Whilst my main focus is modern history, the breadth of my course has allowed me to span the Anglo-Saxon period up to the Twentieth Century and has introduced me to a wealth of literary sources from all eras. Thus, I am combining the disciplines of English and History consistently, as well as continuing my love for business studies through both political and economical histories.
One of my greatest loves is public history and I am a great believer in the ability to bring subjects to life. In my spare time, I volunteer at local museums and facilitate in making history as accessible as possible for all ages. As a result, I am able to provide many relatable reference points for the periods I teach, drawing upon source material and popular culture to make my tutoring as engaging as possible. As such, I love sharing my subject knowledge with other people and hearing new perspectives!

My sessions usually focus around a guided analysis of a variety of sources relating to the session focus, as well as alternative ways of approaching questions and tailoring this understanding to fit exam requirements. However, this depends heavily upon the pupil's preferred learning method as this ultimately dictates the the structure of the lesson. Whilst the main aim is to strengthen areas which students are least confident in, I am very aware that a heavy and consistent focus upon this can be quite tedious and not always productive. Subsequently, I try to counter this by always including an engaging activity that I know they will enjoy in order to make each session as enriching as possible.
I approach revision sessions with the view that it should be relaxed and ordered to reduce exam anxiety. Accordingly, I tend to create clear and visual revision aids which break large topics into manageable chunks. All of these methods can be easily adapted for more kinaesthetic and auditory learners to help accommodate personal revision preferences.
