About Sierra

Hi! I'm a third-year medical student at the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa, currently training to become a physician. I have a strong background in the biological and health sciences, and I’m passionate about making complex topics more understandable and approachable for students at all levels. Whether you’re in middle school, high school, or college, I’ll meet you where you’re at and help you grow your knowledge and confidence. Outside of the classroom and hospital, I love mentoring students and watching those “lightbulb” moments happen. I’m here to support you, challenge you, and celebrate your progress every step of the way.

About the lesson

As a third-year medical student, I understand that no two students learn the same way—so I tailor my teaching to fit each student's unique needs. Whether you’re a middle schooler building strong science fundamentals, a high school student prepping for AP exams, or a college student tackling pre-med or health science courses, I adjust our sessions to best support your goals.

My tutoring sessions typically blend concept review, active recall techniques, and practice questions to reinforce learning and build confidence. For some students, that might mean breaking down complex systems like the cardiovascular or renal system into understandable chunks. For others, we might focus more on test-taking strategies or working through challenging problems together.

What sets me apart is my ability to break down high-level material into clear, relatable explanations. I also bring empathy and encouragement into every session—I know how overwhelming science courses can feel, and I aim to make learning more manageable and even enjoyable.
