About Cerys
I am a third-year History teacher with a genuine passion for the subject and the stories that shape our world. For me, history is more than just dates and events—it’s about understanding how people, choices, and circumstances connect across time, and how each of us fits into that wider narrative.
I love helping students see the bigger picture: how past events influence the present, and how different perspectives come together to form the story of humanity. My teaching focuses on making history engaging, meaningful, and accessible, while also building the skills students need to succeed in exams.
With experience both in the classroom and through tutoring, I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, develop their ideas, and grow in both knowledge and exam technique.

With 3 years of teaching experience and prior tutoring experience, I know exactly what examiners are looking for—and how to help students deliver it with confidence.
What I Offer:
Clear explanations of key topics across GCSE History specifications
Targeted support for weaker areas
Proven strategies to improve exam performance
Personalised lessons tailored to each student’s needs and pace
Lesson Structure:
Each session is carefully structured to maximise progress:
1. Retrieval & Recap (5–10 mins)
We begin with quick recall questions to strengthen memory and revisit previous content—helping build long-term retention.
2. Core Content (20–25 mins)
Clear, engaging teaching of key topics, events, and themes. I break down complex ideas into manageable parts and use examples to ensure full understanding.
3. Exam Technique Focus (20–25 mins)
A crucial part of every lesson. We:
Analyse past paper questions
Learn how to structure high-mark answers
Practise timing and planning responses
Focus on command words (e.g. “Explain”, “Analyse”, “Evaluate”)
Develop skills like using evidence effectively and making clear judgements
4. Practice & Feedback (10–15 mins)
Students complete exam-style questions and receive immediate, actionable feedback—so they know exactly how to improve.
5. Summary & Next Steps (5 mins)
We review key takeaways and set optional tasks to reinforce learning between sessions.
