About David
I’m a third-year Computer Science student at UBC Okanagan with professional tutoring experience at Mathnasium. During my time there, I worked with students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and learning needs, including many students with disabilities.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is finding the explanation that finally makes something click. I’m patient, approachable, and comfortable explaining a concept several different ways when necessary. My experience has taught me that every student learns differently, so I focus on understanding the individual rather than following one teaching method.
Alongside tutoring, my university studies and undergraduate research experience have strengthened my background in mathematics, programming, problem-solving, and technical communication. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students aren’t afraid to ask questions, make mistakes, and build confidence in their own abilities.

My lessons are focused on making math and coding feel understandable rather than overwhelming. I adjust each lesson to the student’s pace, learning style, and goals instead of using the same approach for everyone. If a concept doesn’t make sense one way, I’ll find another way to explain it until it clicks.
Having worked as a Mathnasium tutor with students of different ages, abilities, and learning needs, including students with disabilities, I’ve learned the importance of patience and creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
For math, we can work on homework, test preparation, problem-solving, or strengthening specific topics. For coding, I can help with Java, Python, C, and introductory programming concepts. In both subjects, I focus on helping students understand why something works, not just memorizing steps or answers.
My goal is for students to leave each lesson more confident and eventually be able to solve problems independently.
