1. My Teaching Method and Techniques
I adopt a practical, student-centered bilingual teaching method with English as the instructional language to eliminate learning barriers for foreign learners. Different from rigid textbook teaching, my tutoring focuses on combining situational practice with knowledge systematization. I use core techniques including scenario simulation, vocabulary classification training, real-case explanation, and error-targeted correction. In group classes, I balance collective teaching and individual guidance, ensuring every student can follow the progress while getting targeted feedback. I also integrate repetitive oral drills and flexible Q&A sessions in each class to help students turn passive memorization into active language application, laying a solid foundation for daily communication and workplace use.
2. A Typical Lesson Plan
Each group lesson follows a standardized, efficient, and progressive fixed process to ensure stable learning outcomes:
Step 1: Warm-up & Review (10 minutes) I lead students to review key vocabulary, sentences, and grammar from the last class through simple conversations and quick exercises, and activate learning status with daily or workplace-related topics.
Step 2: New Knowledge Explanation (20 minutes) I teach new language points, phrases, and grammar rules with plain English explanations, matching real-life and financial workplace cases to help students understand usage scenarios rather than just literal meanings.
Step 3: Group Practice & Interaction (25 minutes) As a core session, I organize situational dialogues, role-playing, and group discussions. Students practice new knowledge collaboratively, and I correct pronunciation, expression, and grammar mistakes in real time.
Step 4: Summary & Learning Arrangement (5 minutes) I summarize the key knowledge of the current lesson, sort out difficult points, and assign targeted lightweight practice tasks to consolidate classroom learning.
3. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
First, I have professional financial industry working experience in Shanghai, which is my core competitive advantage different from ordinary Chinese tutors. I can not only teach basic daily conversational Chinese, but also provide exclusive practical financial, workplace, and business Chinese knowledge that is rarely covered in textbooks, helping students adapt to Chinese working scenarios and business communication efficiently. Second, full English teaching makes zero communication barriers for foreign learners of all levels, especially beginners with no Chinese foundation. Third, I specialize in online group tutoring, mastering flexible group teaching skills to balance overall progress and individual student needs. In addition, my fixed evening teaching time (7pm-11pm China Standard Time) provides stable and flexible learning options for students in different time zones, with a patient, meticulous, and practical teaching style that focuses on usable and real-life Chinese rather than rigid exam-oriented learning.
4. Target Students for My Lessons
My Chinese group lessons are open to all foreign learners aged 16 and above, with no strict academic degree restrictions. The courses cover all proficiency levels, from absolute beginners with zero Chinese foundation to intermediate learners who want to improve their daily fluency and workplace business Chinese. The lessons are especially suitable for three types of learners: foreign expats working or studying in Shanghai, international learners who plan to travel, study or work in China, and professionals engaged in finance, trade, and business fields who need targeted Chinese communication skills. The online group class mode is ideal for learners who prefer interactive group learning and want to learn practical, scenario-based Chinese in a relaxed and efficient atmosphere.
