Professionalism is a broad term too often associated with stern, joyless fixation on business matters only.
My professionalism is a reflection of enjoying my work. Whether I'm leading a Bible class for the tenth year at my church or I'm doing volunteer work at an assisted living center, my professionalism is a blend of restrained enthusiasm for my subject matter, sharing my knowledge and enjoying the experience with my students.
True professionalism lies just under the surface of a committed teacher and lover of humanity doing the work he loves -- teaching. He shows up on time, he delivers on his promises, he exceeds expectations with pleasantly surprised students. He does these things because he's doing what he loves. It's just that simple.

Success demands effective communication. It's the basis of all relationships; personal, professional, commercial. Command of your language always will be essential for more than keeping up, more than feeling adequate. Strong, communication sets us apart from crowd, elevates us to visibility above the average.
So it is with my teaching. Concise and surgically precise diction are more than a journeyman's tools. Possessing and practicing verbal finesse are the focus of my time with students, no matter the subject. What they learn they will practice.
What students learn also rides heavily on their attitudes toward the student-instructor relationship. If they enjoy their time in lessons, they will look forward to them. And looking forward to a lesson is a huge part of owning those nuggets of knowledge.
My instruction style emphasizes both components of the learning process: precise use of the tools (words) and learning which tools are best for the work.
