About Alawi

My name's Alawi. I'm based in South London by way of all over! I have been a guitarist for most of my life, taught dozens of folks and played shows from my living rooms to 500+ venues. All the while though, I've connected to the best gift learning the guitar has to offer: a way to express creatively.

Whether it's learning the chords to a new pop song, developing classical or flamenco techniques for old masterpieces, or simply jamming with friends I love having the tools to express myself through my instrument. The guitar has accompanied me all over the world, and helped cultivate wonderful relationships and experiences. I would love to accompany on your guitar playing journey, wherever you may be on it.

About the lesson

I am deeply passionate about teaching. Underpinning my style is patience, and the desire to meet the student precisely where they are in their process. I will not push any particular pathway to learning, and will instead cultivate with you a path that feels enjoyable, accessible and fruitful. I ceased graded examinations at Grade 7, upon realising the joy of guitar playing for me was not in preparation for exams, but in the world of creative expression it opened up to me. I truly believe this to be the gift of music and would love to share this with folks.

I'm primarily an acoustic guitarist, but have sung with numerous bands over the years and can support you learning to connect your singing and guitar playing.

I am available to book for classes upwards of 30 minutes, to 90 minutes, and can offer discounts on bulk booking. I would like to make lessons as accessible as possible, and offer sliding scale. Please contact to discuss.
