About Mira
I have spent nine years helping more than 340 students understand how physics can help address the environmental challenges of our time. My academic background includes a master's degree in geophysics and research experience in climate modelling and renewable energy systems. I have worked in environmental consultancy, academic research, and education, giving me a unique perspective on the applications of physics to sustainability. My students have pursued careers in environmental science, renewable energy engineering, climate policy, and geophysics. I am particularly skilled at helping students see the connections between physics and environmental issues that matter to their generation. I design lessons around current events and real data, making abstract physical concepts immediate and relevant. Outside of teaching, I volunteer with climate education initiatives, participate in renewable energy advocacy, and enjoy outdoor activities that connect me to the natural systems I study. I believe that physics education should empower students to understand and improve the world, and I am committed to preparing the next generation of scientists and engineers to build a sustainable future.

My physics teaching is thoughtful and environmentally conscious, connecting physical principles to the urgent challenges of climate change and sustainable energy. For geophysics, I teach students about seismic waves, plate tectonics, and Earth's magnetic field through data analysis and connections to natural hazards and resource exploration. Climate science is taught through the physics of radiation, atmospheric dynamics, and ocean circulation using real climate data and model outputs. Renewable energy is explored through the physics of solar cells, wind turbines, hydroelectric systems, and energy storage technologies. I emphasise the role of physics in addressing global challenges and preparing students for careers in environmental science and sustainable technology. My lessons incorporate extensive use of real data, scientific papers, and policy documents to show students how physics informs decision-making. I teach mathematical physics with an emphasis on estimation, scaling, and the interpretation of physical models. For exam preparation, I provide comprehensive coverage with attention to the application of physics to unfamiliar contexts and the communication of complex ideas. I also guide students in independent research projects on environmental physics topics.
