About Dipolelo

I am Dineo Nakana and the reason why I want to teach history is because history shows us models of good and responsible citizenship. History also teaches us how to learn from our mistakes and those of others. History helps us understand change and societal development. History provides a context from which to understand ourselves and others.

About the lesson

History is a record of mankind’s journey from when they first emerged on the planet to when they waged battles for kingdoms and ushered in the era of technology. However, the subject and students have had a love-hate relationship. Research claims that students find history less interesting because they are not sure about the purpose of studying the past. Hence, a greater burden lies on the teachers to make the lessons more interactive and interesting. Only then, will students truly appreciate the discipline.
