Hello! I’m Tomos, a fully qualified teacher with experience across primary and lower secondary (KS1–KS3). Based in North Wales, I offer 1-to-1 tutoring in English and Maths, with a calm, tailored approach that helps learners feel confident, focused, and supported. Whether your child needs help catching up, wants to build confidence, or would benefit from extra one-to-one attention, I’m here to help. With a background in the classroom and years of experience supporting learners individually, I focus on building solid foundations, encouraging self-belief, and helping each child achieve their personal best. My Approach to Tutoring My tutoring sessions are calm, supportive, and tailored to the individual learner. I believe that confidence is key – so I create a space where children feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and build at their own pace. --- Techniques & Methodology I use a personalised, child-centred approach, adapting my teaching style to match each student’s needs. This could include: Breaking tasks into manageable steps Using visual aids or real-life examples Encouraging verbal reasoning and explanation Revisiting core concepts to strengthen understanding Using interactive and practical tasks to engage learners Regular positive feedback to build self-belief For children with additional learning needs (ALN/SEN), I adapt my methods further – for example using movement breaks, chunked tasks, or extra processing time. --- 🕒 Lesson Format & Duration Most sessions are 1 hour long, but I offer 45-minute sessions for younger learners or those who benefit from shorter focus times. Each session is structured into: 1. A short warm-up or recap 2. Main focus tasks (based on the student’s needs or goals) 3. A short review to consolidate learning --- Qualifications & Experience Qualified teacher with classroom experience across KS1, KS2, and KS3 Specialist experience working with children with ALN/SEN (ASD, ADHD, SEMH) Experience delivering tailored 1-to-1 tuition and small group sessions DBS checked and fully insured --- Who I Teach I tutor: KS1 and KS2 learners (5–11 years old) in English and Maths KS3 learners (11–14 years old) in English and Maths Children with ALN/SEN who benefit from extra support Learners who need a calm, confidence-boosting environment
