I would be an excellent aid to the instruction that your child is already getting from online school by giving them the personal attention they need to understand processes and where they might be making mistakes. I find value in explaining things in new ways until it makes a lasting logical connection- there is not only one way to understand math. I will never give the answers, but rather help a student understand why they need to follow certain steps or guide them back to the correct materials to establish the habit of looking back at notes to find the answers.
I have just graduated from North Carolina State University with my bachelor's degrees in Anthropology and International Studies. I always have done very well with math and I think my propensity towards humanities rather than numbers gives me an advantage over someone who only understands concepts and not how to communicate them. I have tutored each of my four siblings at varying stages of learning mathematics and was able to get college credit for my scores on the AP Calculus exam. I owe this to a fantastic teacher, which is what I'd like to be for your child.
