About Leeann

Hi! My name is Leeann, and I’m a Year 13 student at Middleton Grange School with a strong passion for science and mathematics. I have consistently achieved Merit and Excellence across NCEA, and I’m working towards my long-term goal of studying Medicine at the University of Otago. This goal motivates me to approach learning with dedication, organization, and a strong work ethic — qualities I bring into my tutoring. I enjoy helping students understand challenging concepts in a clear, structured, and encouraging way. Because I’ve recently studied these subjects myself, I understand exactly what NCEA requires and how to prepare effectively for assessments at every level. I have experience supporting classmates and younger students, and I always aim to create a friendly environment where questions are welcome and learning feels manageable. I am also fluent in Korean, so I can support Korean-speaking students and families who prefer explanations in both English and Korean. Outside of academics, I enjoy running, teamwork, and meeting new people. I look forward to helping students gain confidence and succeed in their science and math studies.

About the lesson

I offer personalized tutoring in NCEA Science (general, chemistry, physics, biology) and Mathematics (calculus, algebra, geometry, statistics, etc.) for students from year 8 to year 13.My teaching approach focuses on clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and building strong conceptual understanding so students feel confident, prepared, and capable in their subjects.

A typical lesson runs for one hour, and each session is customised to the student’s needs—whether that’s preparing for an assessment, reviewing classwork, strengthening foundational skills, or extending into Excellence-level content. I use worked examples, targeted practice questions, and simple explanations to make complex ideas easier to understand.

As a Year 13 student who has consistently achieved at Excellence across sciences and maths, I understand exactly what NCEA markers look for and how to approach questions effectively. I’ve helped classmates and younger students with their science and maths work, and I aim to create a supportive, friendly environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.

I also speak fluent Korean, so Korean students or families seeking support in both English and Korean are very welcome.

My lessons are ideal for students:

in Years 8–13

studying NCEA Levels 1–3 Science or Maths

needing help with homework, exam preparation, or understanding tricky concepts

wanting a supportive tutor who explains things clearly and patiently
