About Lauren
Teaching exists because music lives through connection. I grew up playing traditional music in Cape Breton through pickin parties and tunes learned by ear from older players.
These 13 years of experience have shaped how I view the instrument. My BA American Roots Music degree provides the framework for this organic process.
I have guided hundreds of students through the nuances of the fiddle. Ear training remains the foundation of everything I do.
My approach emphasizes the joy found in the rhythm of the instrument. I enjoy helping people connect to the history of the songs they play. The journey requires patience and a good sense of humor. You will find my teaching style to be grounded yet flexible for your needs.

Many self taught players hit a wall when they lack formal structure. Intonation feels like a mystery sometimes. My lessons focus on fixing these gaps by blending technical bowing technique and double stops with the intuitive methods I grew up with. We integrate classical repertoire to strengthen your foundation while keeping the ear as our primary guide.
I want you to feel confident navigating the fingerboard with ease. We will work on tuning by ear so you never have to rely solely on digital devices.
My BA American Roots Music background informs the way I break down complex sounds into manageable pieces. I always offer a free trial lesson so we can gauge your starting level comfortably. How do you envision your own playing sounding after 3 months of consistent practice?
