Trainee Religious Studies teacher with a first-class degree in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics from King's College London. Before university, I gained A*-A grades in Religious Studies GCSE and at A-level respectively. I tutor years 7-11 Religious Studies, helping students understand concepts, think critically, and improve exam skills. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student's needs.
Whilst my structure is adaptable, an example lesson may look like:
Introduction: A friendly, supportive check-in to ask how you have been finding RS recently, and any particular concerns you may have about the topic/skill the lesson is focused on.
Starter / Engagement: I begin lessons with thought-provoking questions or prompts to engage students and connect the material to their own experiences. This may also include retrieval so I can gain knowledge about your current level of understanding of the topic(s).
Introduction / Input: I provide clear explanations of key concepts, using examples and visuals to make ideas accessible and memorable.
Collaborative Activities: I incorporate interactive tasks, such as discussions and shared documents, allowing students to explore and compare ideas.
Case Studies / Role Play: I use real-life or hypothetical scenarios to help students apply their learning, encouraging critical thinking and discussion. For exam skills, this may be an opportunity to write an answer, or plan one.
Reflection / Personal Response: I guide students to reflect individually on what they’ve learned, fostering personal connection and deeper understanding.
Plenary / Review: I finish lessons with quizzes or summary activities to consolidate knowledge and check understanding, ensuring students leave with clear takeaways.
My lessons are structured, engaging, and student-focused, using digital tools to make online learning interactive and accessible whilst supporting both knowledge and skill development.
Sessions are 45-60 minutes.
