About Lucas
Hello! I have an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington and have been tutoring in Seattle for seven years. I also did research in computational fluid dynamics to model environmental flows. I hold a Washington State Teaching Credential in Physics and know how to make tough topics clear and relevant. I’m available weekday mornings and weekend afternoons. Outside of tutoring, I volunteer at the Pacific Science Center, doing hands-on physics demos for visitors. Let’s work together to build your confidence in physics, astrophysics, quantitative methods, nuclear topics, and any related science you need—one simple experiment or simulation at a time.

I start with a quick review of your current knowledge, then give clear, hands-on lessons covering: Physics: Mechanics (pendulums, simple circuits), electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and waves using home demos and PhET/VPython simulations. Astrophysics: Basics of planetary motion and how telescopes observe space. Quantitative Physics: Collecting/plotting data (e.g., pendulum timing), learning error estimation and simple statistics. Nuclear Physics: Radioactivity and basic nuclear reactions, with examples like medical imaging. Other Sciences: Short chemistry or biology context when needed (e.g., energy flow in ecosystems). Each class uses real data (like timing a pendulum swing or voltage readings) and relates to Seattle-area examples (hydroelectric power, earthquake design). You’ll work through a few problems modeled on AP/IB/college exams and see step-by-step solutions. By the end, you’ll understand how equations match real experiments and feel confident tackling physics in any context.
