About Uyen

Hello there!
My name is Uyên, I am 25 years old I originally am from Germany. I graduated from a German high school with my "Abitur" and have been tutoring classmates, friends and later on other students ever since. I realized early on that I loved the English language and that teaching others felt extremely rewarding to me.
After I had passed my Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English) at Grade A, I worked as a tutor at a German tuition center and then moved to Vietnam to further pursue my passion of teaching in 2020/21. My classes have been expanding and developing as well as my ability to communicate and adapt to students from different sociocultural backgrounds. As of now, my main focus is English for communication for younger students and Cambridge and Ielts exam preparation for high school students and adults.
It has been an adventurous and valuable journey, with students passing their exams as the biggest reward. I really hope to continue on this path together with my present and future students!

About the lesson

I am currently teaching the following classes in person (in Haiphong, VN) and online:
- basic English and communication: elementary students grade 1-5 who are just getting to know the English language
- Cambridge Young learners: middle and high school students that are preparing for preparing for Cambridge exams at Pre-A1, A1 and A2 level
- Cambridge B1: students that are preparing for Cambridge B1 exam

Things I emphasize in my lessons:
- learning by doing: apply what is learned in games, role-plays etc. that mimic real-life scenarios
- speaking and listening: many students do not live in an environment in which they have the opportunity to communicate in English; in my classes, each student has the change to speak and express themselves
- individual planning: learning pace based on students' abilities
- use official, high-quality study material
-cultural context: explaining and helping students understand cultural aspects behind the language they are learning; as someone with a multi-cultural background, i find this aspect helpful during studies
