About Colton
I believe that the best way to learn is by doing. Through my experience in robotics, engineering, programming, 3D design, and STEM outreach, I have had the opportunity to build projects, compete at the state and national levels, and teach other students. I have worked with students of different ages and experience levels, and I enjoy helping others turn their ideas into something real. My goal is to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new things, and building confidence in their abilities.

My Teaching Approach
Hi, I'm Colton! I believe the best way to learn is to understand why something works, not just memorize how to get the answer. My goal as a tutor is to make difficult subjects feel approachable by breaking complicated concepts into smaller steps and connecting them to real-world examples.
I use a combination of explanation, guided practice, questions, and hands-on examples. Rather than simply giving students the answer, I work through problems with them and gradually let them take the lead as their confidence improves.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student already understands and where they are struggling. From there, we'll review the concept, work through an example together, and then practice similar problems with increasing independence. I also leave time at the end to review what we learned and identify anything that should be practiced before the next lesson.
What Sets Me Apart
I'm a TSA State Officer and an FTC robotics student with experience applying STEM concepts to real projects and competitions. I've also taught STEM and robotics to younger students, which has taught me how to explain technical ideas in ways that are easy to understand.
I also have a background in music and play viola, so I can bring the same patient, practice-focused approach to music instruction. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.
Who I Teach
I primarily work with elementary, middle and high school students in math, physics, STEM, robotics, and beginner-level viola. I'm especially interested in helping students who want to strengthen their fundamentals, catch up in a subject, prepare for challenging classes, or simply become more confident in what they're learning.
