About Cengiz

I have taught basic and intermediate Turkish in a Secondary School and use my Interpreting/Translating experience in London. I am bilingual and believe that I form a bridge between English and Turkish as I am half Turkish Cypriot and half English.

About the lesson

I use interactive online books and give 100% in order to improve my students' level. I advise them to purchase workbooks and do homework outside of lesson times in order to increase their level faster. I correct speaking and pronunciation errors as well as written ones. The all-important listening skill is also covered in our lessons.

Perfect! So far me and my misses have had 11 lessons in total with Cengiz and so far our Turkish has massively improved. I have booked and additional 10 lessons to strengthen our foundation and have faith that me and my misses will be speaking if not fluently then at least on a decent level before the end of the year. Cengiz is very professional and knowledgeable coach. I first got acquainted with him when I visited his chess school in Kyrenia whilst being on holiday there. I first observed him whilst he was teaching kids. He explained the Petrov defence to them. I am no stranger to Petrov defence but I was really impressed by the depth of Cengiz’s knowledge and realised how little I knew in comparison to him. Cengiz delivered his lecture in a very measures way and calibrated his deliver in a very comprehensible manner. He gave regular examples from chess openings to corroborate his points. One pleasant surprise for was the description of the Shepherd’s mate in Turkish. Within a short space of time I learned a lot from Cengiz on Petrov defence and linguistic beauty of the turkish language. As a keen chess player and father of two kids I can say with confidence that I would be delighted if Cengiz was the tutor of my kids. Cengiz is a rare type of chess tutor from whom one can learn not only good chess but also how to be a decent human being.
