About Berkay

My name is Berkay, I am 19 years old, and I was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Over the last two years, I have been living in England. During my first year, I stayed in Liverpool, where I focused on improving my English. In my second year, after successfully passing the IELTS exam, I earned the opportunity to study Computer Engineering at Bangor University, where I am currently continuing my education.

I completed my high school education at CERN Schools and graduated from there. One of my biggest passions in life is travelling—so far, I have visited 12 different countries, learning as much as I could from each culture and experience.

Sports have always been a huge part of my life. I spent part of my life as a semi-professional football player, played volleyball at an amateur level, and I am still actively playing volleyball at Bangor University. I also have a tennis licence, and for the last 3–4 years, I have been seriously involved in fitness. As you can probably tell, I am a real sports enthusiast.

The main reason I am teaching Turkish is because I truly believe it is a fun, expressive, and not overly difficult language to learn. I enjoy helping people discover Turkish culture through the language and showing them that learning Turkish can be enjoyable, motivating, and confidence-building. My goal is to make students feel comfortable, engaged, and excited while learning.

About the lesson

In my lessons, I aim to teach Turkish in a fast, friendly, and effective way. We will start with basic vocabulary, then learn how to build sentences using those words. My goal is to help students understand and use most common Turkish sentences in a short time. I always make sure my students are both learning and having fun. During the last 10 minutes of each lesson, I ask short, fun questions based on what we learned to reinforce knowledge.

In addition, since I am confident in sports and fitness, I also offer special lessons focused on training. I can prepare weekly workout programmes, explain which exercises to do, how to do them correctly, and how to continue with a proper training plan.
