About Dalton
Hi, I’m Dalton, a fourth-year Mathematics major at UBCO with a deep passion for helping others understand and enjoy math and physics. From a young age, I’ve loved problem-solving and finding clear, simple ways to explain complex ideas. That passion has grown into my goal of becoming a future teacher after completing my degree. I understand how frustrating math and physics can feel when they don’t “click” right away. Over the years, I’ve developed a patient and supportive teaching style that focuses on breaking concepts down into manageable steps and adapting my explanations to fit each student’s learning style. What drives me as a tutor is seeing students gain confidence and start enjoying subjects they once struggled with. Whether you’re aiming to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or simply build a stronger foundation, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. With me, you’ll get someone who’s knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in your success.

I take a personalized and adaptive approach to tutoring. During our first session, I’ll discuss your areas of struggle and assess your current understanding. From there, I build a learning plan tailored to your learning style, whether you need visual explanations, step-by-step breakdowns, or lots of practice problems.
I focus on:
-Strengthening core understanding before diving into harder concepts
-Explaining the “why” behind formulas and methods, not just the “how”
-Using real-world examples to make abstract concepts click
-Encouraging active problem-solving so you build confidence
Typical Lesson Plan:
-Quick Check-In & Goal Setting → Understand where you’re struggling and what you’d like to achieve in the session.
-Concept Review & Simplification → Break down tricky topics into simple, clear explanations.
-Guided Practice → Work through examples together while I explain each step.
-Independent Problem-Solving → You try similar questions while I support you when needed.
-Wrap-Up & Study Tips → Summarize what we covered and provide strategies for practicing on your own.
-I can also create custom practice problems to strengthen weak areas or focus on assignments and upcoming tests.
What Sets Me Apart:
-Fourth-year math major with a strong academic background
-Patient, approachable, and supportive teaching style
-Proven ability to make difficult concepts simple and understandable
-Passionate about helping students build confidence and enjoy learning
Who My Lessons Are For:
-High school students: all grades, from basic math to pre-calculus, physics, and trigonometry
-First-year university students: calculus, linear algebra, introductory physics, and other foundational courses
-Students who feel stuck, frustrated, or intimidated by math — I’ll help turn that around!
If you’ve ever thought “I’m just not good at math”, I’m here to show you that with the right guidance and practice, you absolutely can be.

I highly recommend Dalton as a tutor. He was punctual and well organized which made our sessions efficient and productive. His ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and approachable way, helped make it easier to understand. He was always patient and thorough which gave me more confidence in the material.
Dalton tutored my son for grade 11 math. He provided insights and suggestions which increased his knowledge, skills, and techniques in the subject to the point of being one of the top grades in the class. Also, these skills translated into success in physics. Dalton's tutoring skills and experience are highly recommended.
Takes his time to make sure you understand even if it’s tough. Will push you to learn and figure things out on your own, building on your own learning. Hard working and caring. Will get your marks where they need to be.
