About Joel
I worked 33 years for the NYC DOE as an SPED Teacher in a Co-Teaching environment including ELA, Global Prep and Earth Science, as well as setting up Visual Arts Programs for 9-12 Graders for the entire school . I taught Resource Room where I diagnosed student Homework problems and proscribed managable goals.
I also taught on-line courses in SPED for Teachernetwork for 3 years.

I can tutor ELA and Global prep to Mainstream students. I am also certified in SPED in the State of NY and can tutor learning Disabled students or those with Executive Functioning difficulties. I am also an Art Teacher and can give lessons or tutor Art History.
I hold 2 Master degrees . MPS in Art therapy and Special education from pratt institute, 1982 MFA from Brooklyn College in painting, 1992. I was trained by the NYCDOE in Special education including Common Core disciplines and Close Reading skills. I look at the students work and break down the work- load into " chunks " or manageable parts. I diagnose the over-all problem and create mini tasks to transition the student.
