About James
I am a Junior at West Virginia University studying Forensic Biology. While my academic qualifications are important, beyond that, I am an Eagle Scout. My experience in leadership and instructing with scouting greatly influences my teaching style, and I feel it allows me to connect more with students as well as increase the retention of content. I pay very close attention to their responses to questions and ensure they understand the content before moving to the next section, preventing gaps in understanding. I take my time and make sure that everything I teach is 100%, and while it may take slightly longer, my previous students have preferred my approach over that of previous tutors.

About the lesson

In a standard 1 hour lesson I start with a warm up reviewing content from the previous lesson. I then do about a 45 minute combination of lesson and practice. I end with a 10 minute review of all the content from the content covered. This is the standard for math and then for sciences it is slightly more teaching then practice but I follow the same general pace. I know from my experience that a warm up and review at the beginning and end of the lesson help with retention of the content. This general structure is how I format my lessons normally but I am always flexible to the students preferred learning style and can adjust to meet that as best as possible.
