About Drew
I love meeting people, and exploring the depths of connection that we can find with others from faraway places. What started for me as a Chinese 101 class in college aimed at spending time with nice professors, quickly snowballed into a Chinese Major, and all of a sudden, 17 years studying Chinese, extensive facility in Mandarin (HK6) and Cantonese (Business-proficient), and a decade living in China. Studying and using Chinese has brought me great friendship around every turn, always from unexpected places, so the language is something that I continue investing in, specific for the seemingly never-ending gift of unexpected friendship. My ability to speak Chinese is due in large part to the kindness and patience of many friends from faraway places. I pay forward the tools they have given me as part of celebrating the connection that awaits all of us when we go to new places and say hello.

I have 17 years of experience studying and using Chinese, ten of those have been spent living and working in China.
Chinese, to me, is above all else a tremendous tool which can be used to meet countless new people, and make friends from places we otherwise never imagined we could go.
I am most enthusiastic about, and concurrently excel in, bridging the gaps between the language that is taught in textbooks, and the words that are used between people in the real world.
My specialties are honing and refining pronunciation through native language manipulation, as well as student mindset, and language learning meta-cognition management and maintenance through the beginning, middle, and advanced stages of language use.
