About Thando
I am an empathetic and patient person that is passionate about helping people overcome challenges and gain confidence in their mathematical abilities. Sometimes math teachers can be intimidating or unapproachable, so I strive to create a calm and relaxed environment while still cultivating focus and efficiency during my lessons. I can meet people where they're at and break down complex concepts well because I myself used to struggle with math. I have had experience tutoring Actuarial Science and Analytics students at UCT for two years. So bright students that need polishing are also welcomed. I am a great public speaker (I represented South Africa for public speaking in high school) so I can promise thorough explanations and exciting sessions that keep students engaged.

I offer Math Core lessons for Grade 11 and 12 students. I keep my sessions simple and to-the-point: The first part of the session consists of a short and effective teaching of the theoretical concepts of the relevant section. The second part consists of going through complex examples so that the student gains confidence and understanding for practical application of concepts, as well as useful exam techniques and mental tools to ensure a calm and stable mindset walking into the assessment.
