About Janet
I was an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder for about 24 years; I taught at University of Colorado Denver years before that. So I have the experience of teaching college-level course for the past three decades. I have presented papers all over the U.S. and Europe, and I have published four book chapters.
Additionally, I have graded thousands of papers, and it takes me about one minute to figure out what a student is struggling with and why.
I am very accessible and understanding. I don't see failure, I only see learning.

First, I think it's important to get to know each other a little before we get into doing any work.
1. Show me the assignment
2. Let me know how much you have completed.
3. Tell me the problems that you are experiencing
4. I will distinguish if the problem is a "writing" issue or a"thinking" issue.
5. Once I can understand where the student is coming from, then I can teach them how to understand their assignment, how to break it down so it isn't overwhelming, and inspire students to remember that the only way to learn is to make mistakes.
It's all part of the process of being a life-long learner about the world in which we live.
