About Sofiya

I am a Year 11 student at a grammar school with a strong academic record and a solid understanding of the 11+ exam requirements. I aim to help students build confidence and master key skills through clear explanations, structured lessons, and regular practice.
My approach focuses on breaking down difficult topics into simple, manageable steps so students can fully understand the material rather than just memorising answers.
I will try to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace. Having experienced selective school preparation myself, I understand what it takes to succeed in the 11+ and how to guide students effectively through the process.

About the lesson

I use a patient, structured approach that focuses on building strong foundations before moving on to harder topics. I break problems down into simple steps and use examples to help students understand concepts rather than just memorising answers. I also include regular practice questions and short checks to make sure understanding is secure, especially for exam-style questions. A typical lesson would be 1 hour, which allows time to cover a topic in detail, practise questions together, and review any mistakes or misunderstandings. Shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student’s needs. I am currently a Year 11 student at a grammar school, working at GCSE level in a high-achieving academic environment. I have a strong understanding of the 11+ content and exam style, and I am familiar with the skills needed to succeed in selective school entrance exams. While I do not have formal tutoring experience yet, I have experience helping peers with their studies and explaining topics in a clear, approachable way! These lessons are aimed at primary school students preparing for the 11+ entrance exams, typically Year 4 to Year 6 (ages 9–11). They are suitable for students who are preparing for grammar school entrance exams and want to improve their confidence and exam technique in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
