About Majed

I am an electrical engineering university major with seven years of tutoring experience. I attained 100% in grade 11 math (top mark award), 98% in grade 12 math, and A+ in university calculus. I also received 100% in grade 12 computer science and A+ in all of my university programming courses, as well as 96% in high school physics. I furthermore attained the highest score in Waterloo’s Euclid contest out of my school. I made the Dean’s Honor list for my university, and was the recipient of the Engineering Award of Excellence Scholarship. I am qualified to teach mathematics, physics, and computer science up to and including the university level.

I offer my first lesson free of charge. Will send you all the notes I take during the lesson. Will help you understand the concept at hand, and will work with you through the problems that will reinforce your understanding the most and allow you to succeed in tests and exams. Will also go through any problems of your choice on which you require clarification.

On the math end, I cover trigonometry, functions, advanced functions, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, multivariate calculus, vector calculus, and more (grade 9, 10, 11, 12, and university level).

Physics-wise, I cover grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 physics courses. I also cover university mechanics, systems and circuit analysis, and electromagnetics.

When it comes to computer science, I am proficient in Assembly, Python, Java, C, C++, and MATLAB. I am also well-versed in data structures and algorithm analysis. I attained an A+ in all of my university programming courses.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

As an electrical engineering major, I have always had a deep interest and curiosity for STEM subjects because such subjects provide a model for explaining the world around us. Using this model, we can innovate new solutions to our problems and build upon preexisting solutions. Everyday items that some of us take for granted, such as our cell phones or computers, are engineering wonders that involve the implementation of advanced concepts in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, physics, material science, and so on. The capacity of STEM subjects to accurately model the physical world and their many applications greatly contributes to my interest in them.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

A deep knowledge of STEM subjects is often the catalyst and cause for many of our great achievements as human beings. For example, the first satellite launched into space was Sputnik 1 in 1957. It was launched by the R-7 ICBM rocket, and the process of launching it and getting it into orbit necessitated the application of advanced STEM concepts such as vector calculus, differential equations, fuel types and efficiency, knowledge of material science, and much more. The integration of various human fields of knowledge in engineering, physics, and chemistry amounted to the successful launch of the Sputnik 1 satellite and many other satellites and space stations into orbit. Indeed, the deeper understanding of the physical world with which STEM subjects provide us and their various applications sparks within me a passion for this field.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

The right tutor can spark within a student an unyielding passion for his or her subject and inspire him or her to accomplish marvellous things. It is the ability to inspire students and deepen their knowledge that attracts me to tutoring.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

My grade 10 history teacher inspired me through his teaching approach and his emphasis on understanding rather than rote memorization. He taught history in a comprehensive yet engaging manner, taking into account different viewpoints all while providing students with a platform to express their opinions on historical matters. I now implement this engaging, interactive, yet comprehensive approach in my own lessons as a tutor.
  • What are your keys to success?

There are two keys to success that students must undoubtedly observe. The first is to maintain their consistency. Consistency is critical to long-term success. A tower cannot be built at once, and must be constructed brick by brick over many years and months. It is important that a student sets a schedule for practicing whatever subject they want to excel in and to maintain that schedule and be consistent. They will eventually reap the benefits of their discipline and consistency. The second key to success is that students continually fuel their motivation for their subjects. It is vital that a student frequently exposes him or herself to the many applications of the subject that they are studying such that he or she is continually motivated. A lack of motivation can make the student dread the subject, and so motivation must be fuelled regularly.
