About Zoe

I am a highly accomplished honors student with a demonstrated history of academic excellence, consistently maintaining an A average across all subjects while supporting students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. My tutoring practice is grounded in evidence-based methodologies — including Inquiry-Based, Project-Based, and Problem-Based Learning — ensuring every student receives a structured, purposeful, and effective educational experience. I personally understand what it feels like to learn differently. Having had to teach myself a significant portion of my own school material around a demanding international athletic schedule, I know firsthand the frustration of a one-size-fits-all approach that simply does not work for every mind. That lived experience is at the heart of everything I do — I do not just teach, I adapt. What further sets me apart is the discipline and resilience built through competing at the national and international level in competitive cycling, where mastering material independently and efficiently was not optional — it was essential. I approach every session with professionalism, preparation, and a genuine commitment to each student's progress. When you work with me, you are not simply hiring a tutor — you are investing in a focused, credible, and results-driven educational partner who truly understands what it takes to succeed academically, no matter how you learn.

Tutoring With Zoe
My Philosophy: You Don't Have to Change — My Teaching Does
Every student is different, so why should learning be one-size-fits-all? It shouldn't. That's the foundation of everything I do. I use a student-centered approach, meaning I adapt to you — your strengths, your pace, and the way your brain works best — not the other way around.

How I Teach
Depending on what works best for each student, I draw from a range of proven methods:

Inquiry-Based Learning — Exploring topics through questions, research, and investigation rather than just passively listening.
Project-Based Learning — Working on real-world projects that require critical thinking and produce tangible, meaningful outcomes.
Problem-Based Learning — Tackling authentic problems to build critical thinking and collaborative skills.

For younger students, I also incorporate:

Kinesthetic Learning — Bringing movement and physical activity into the learning process to keep things engaging and memorable.
Game-Based Learning — Using games and simulations to reinforce concepts and make learning genuinely fun.

These aren't rigid categories — they're tools. Every lesson is shaped around the individual student.

Tools & Materials
I use a mix of digital and physical resources tailored to each student's needs, including platforms like Google Classroom, Formative, Delta Math, and Khan Academy, as well as worksheets, custom study guides, and hands-on materials.

A Typical Lesson
No two lessons look exactly the same — that's the point. A session might begin by reviewing what's been challenging, move into guided exploration of a concept using the method that fits the student best, and close with practice or a mini-project to reinforce the material. The structure is always flexible and always student-led.

What Sets Me Apart
I'm Zoe — an honors student, a nationally and internationally competitive cyclist, and someone who genuinely understands what it means to juggle a demanding schedule while keeping grades up. I miss around 30 days of school per year to race at the national and international level in Cross-Country Mountain Biking, Cyclocross, and Road Cycling. Despite that, I've maintained an A average throughout — largely by teaching myself a significant portion of the material independently.
That experience gives me something most tutors don't have: I know firsthand how to learn efficiently, how to stay motivated under pressure, and how to master material on your own terms. I bring that same work ethic and adaptability to every student I work with.
Outside of cycling and academics, I'm an artist, a hiker, a paddle boarder, and a proud dog mom — an outdoors person through and through. I bring that same energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm into my sessions.

Who Are My Lessons For?
I work with students from Kindergarten through 12th grade — elementary, middle school, and high school freshmen — across all subjects. Whether you're looking to:

Bring up your grades
Build better study habits
Improve test scores
Or simply actually understand what's being taught

...there's a place for you here. No matter where you're starting from, we'll figure out the best path forward — together.
