About Althaaf
# About me
Hi, I’m Althaaf. I teach math and physics with patience, clarity, and high standards.
I’m a Computer Engineering student at UBC and a bronze medalist at the International Physics Olympiad, where I represented Indonesia. That experience shaped how I teach: I break hard ideas into simple steps, focus on real understanding, and help students feel calm and capable when a problem looks intimidating.
I’m friendly and easy to talk to, but serious about progress. In our lessons, you can ask any question without embarrassment. I’ll explain things carefully, check that they make sense, and give you practice that builds confidence for homework, tests, and stronger problem-solving.
If you want a tutor who is approachable, prepared, and genuinely invested in helping you improve, I’d be glad to work with you.

My approach as a tutor
I teach math and physics by building understanding first, then speed. I start from what you already know, find the exact gap, and rebuild the idea with simple language, diagrams, and worked examples before we move to harder problems. My goal is confident problem-solving, not memorizing formulas.
A typical lesson with me
Quick check-in: homework, quiz results, or what felt confusing
Focus topic: one core idea (for example forces, circuits, algebra, or functions) explained clearly
Guided practice: we solve problems together, step by step
Independent practice: you try similar questions while I give feedback
Short wrap-up: key takeaways plus a small set of practice problems for the week
What sets me apart
I am Althaaf, a UBC Computer Engineering student and an International Physics Olympiad bronze medalist. That mix matters: olympiad training for deep physics thinking, and an engineering mindset for clear structure, careful explanation, and practical exam strategy. I help you learn how to read a question, choose a method, and check whether the answer makes sense.
Who my lessons are for
Middle school and high school students who want stronger math and physics foundations, help with homework and tests, or a clearer path toward advanced and olympiad-style problem solving. I work especially well with students who feel stuck, want more challenge, or need a calm, structured tutor who explains until it clicks.
