About Nikhil
I am a first-year UBC Kelowna Engineering student with a strong academic foundation in math, physics, and chemistry. I have developed proven teaching and leadership skills as the president of both my school’s math tutoring club and STEM club, where I tutored students from grades 8-12, and arranged lessons for STEM club members. In addition, I was also a volunteer for UBC's Geering Up program and SFU's APSC Outreach program as a junior instructor, where I assisted and planned lessons for elementary school children in engineering topics. I am reliable, patient, and committed to creating a supportive and professional tutoring experience that not only helps students understand their course material, but be confident in their understanding, and reach their academic goals.

My approach as a tutor focuses on understanding the student's understanding of the concept, rather than simply going through the material along with them. I help children build strong conceptual foundations rather than have them focus on memorization, by breaking down complex topics into simpler pieces. My teaching style adapts to each student’s learning pace, and understanding of the concept. A typical lesson includes revisions of previous lessons as a warm-up, guided practice that allows the student to 100% understand what the topic asks of them, as well as independent practice problems to build further confidence in the subject. What sets me apart is my leadership and teaching experience as a STEM and math tutoring club president, along with my work as a junior instructor at UBC and SFU which has strengthened teaching skills. My lessons are ideal for middle school to high school students looking to improve grades, prepare for exams, or give them a stronger understanding of topics they find confusing.
