About Yi-Xuen

Hi! I’m Yi-Xuen, a Biomedical Sciences graduate from University College London (UCL) with a strong interest in science and education. I have 2 years of tutoring experience, teaching students in both Malaysia and the UK across different backgrounds and learning levels.

Having studied Biomedical Sciences, I have developed a strong foundation in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, as well as experience applying scientific concepts and problem-solving skills in an academic setting. I understand that every student learns differently, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence.

My goal is not simply to help students memorise content, but to help them understand why and how things work, develop effective problem-solving skills, and become more independent learners. I am particularly passionate about helping students who may feel less confident in a subject discover that they are capable of improving with the right guidance and practice.

I teach KS3 and GCSE students and would be happy to support students who want to strengthen their foundations, keep up with their schoolwork, prepare for exams, or simply become more confident in their subjects.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to help students build a strong understanding of the subject while developing the confidence to tackle questions independently. I like to begin each lesson by introducing and explaining the key concepts, followed by worked examples to demonstrate how to approach different types of questions.

Students will then have the opportunity to practise questions themselves, with my guidance and feedback throughout the lesson. I also like to include exam-style questions where appropriate, so students can become familiar with applying what they have learnt in a way that prepares them for assessments and examinations.

Lessons are typically 1 hour and are conducted online, making them flexible and convenient for students. I have 2 years of tutoring experience teaching students internationally in both Malaysia and the UK, and I aim to adapt each lesson to the student's individual level, learning pace and areas for improvement.

I offer lessons for KS3 and GCSE students in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
