About April
I recently achieved an A* in A-level French, so I have a very current, exam-focused understanding of what KS3 and GCSE French actually requires, including the mark schemes and where students typically lose marks. Studying International Social and Political Studies with French at UCL, language learning and communication remain an ongoing part of my day-to-day.
I know first-hand what it takes to go from finding a language difficult to feeling genuinely confident communicating with it - I've worked through the exact specifications my students will be examined on, recently and thoroughly. Therefore, I understand both the content and the specific pressure points: grammar rules that usually trip people up, high-level vocabulary, and building confidence in speaking naturally, rather than just memorising phrases.
I'm patient, organised, and invested in seeing my students improve - I'll always be clear about where a student stands and what we're working towards, ensuring steady, visible progress.

My French tuition is built around genuinely useful lessons, instead of working through a textbook. Focusing on the specific areas students find hardest (generally speaking confidence, verb conjugation, and exam technique), I adapt each session to what needs work, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all structure.
Lessons typically last 45-60 minutes, involving grammar consolidation, vocabulary building, and spoken practice, since confidence in speaking is often the biggest gap for GCSE and KS3 students. Each session ends with a clear sense of progress and what to focus on next.
These lessons are aimed at KS3 and GCSE students looking to improve both their confidence and results, whether they are working towards exams or looking to strengthen the basics.
