About Eyre

I had tutoring myself and am passionate about helping to support students in their learning and helping them achieve their goals. I am an actor and tutor, living in North London. I enjoy theatre, cinema, vegetarian cooking, running, yoga and archery.

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring My teaching is rooted in clarity, encouragement, and genuine enthusiasm for literature. I believe that every student can develop both confidence and curiosity when they’re guided to understand not just what a text says, but how and why it says it. My lessons are discussion-based and highly tailored to each student’s needs, helping them to think critically, write effectively, and engage deeply with the material. Lesson Structure A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, though I also offer 90-minute sessions for students preparing for exams or tackling coursework in greater depth. Each session is structured around clear goals — whether that’s exploring a set text, refining essay technique, or building exam confidence through close analysis and practice questions. Experience and Qualifications I have a BA in English Language and Literature from UCL, and an MA in Shakespeare Studies from UCL as well. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, from GCSE and A-Level pupils to university undergraduates, helping them to achieve strong results and a lasting appreciation for literature. I have extensive experience teaching Shakespeare — including Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar, Much Ado About Nothing, The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, and The Merchant of Venice — as well as a range of other school set texts: A Streetcar Named Desire, A Christmas Carol, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Pride and Prejudice, An Inspector Calls, Of Mice and Men, The Great Gatsby, Beloved, The Colour Purple, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights. My familiarity with these texts and the relevant exam specifications allows me to guide students with both insight and precision. Who the Lessons Are For I tutor GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language students, as well as university students seeking support with essay writing, textual analysis, or Shakespeare studies. My approach suits students of all abilities — from those who need structured support to those aiming for the highest grades.
