About Georgie

I am a UCL History undergraduate tutoring in History, English Literature and Fine Art. My own recent experience at school during GCSE and A Level allows me to understand the pressure students face but also be aware of what the exam boards are looking for. With 4 years experience, I have inspired my students to believe in themselves and in the process achieve grades they wanted and even beyond what they believed themselves capable. My experience with dyslexia among friends and family also makes me sympathetic to this cause.

About the lesson

Education is not just about achieving grades, but about bringing out the potential in every individual student. Thus, my classes are tailored to every individual's needs and desires. Typically, I will start with a trial session in order to understand what the student requires from me and what I require from them. We will also look at the exam board and what they require. From there my classes will evolve and my aim is to make them enjoyable and something to look forward to. The subjects I teach are artistic and therefore require different approaches whether it be visual, oral or movement based. I promote creativity in my classes (use of colour, spider diagrams etc.), which is an important feature in the arts. However, if a student prefers a lecture based class then I am happy to cooperate and use this approach as well.

While all prospective Fine Art students are welcome to approach me, there are certain areas of History and English Literature that I specialise in as follows;

History:
- History of Russia (800 - 1994)
- The Tudor Period (1547 - 1603)
- History of Modern Germany (1815-1990)
- The Reign of Peter the Great (1682 - 1725)
- Communism in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe (1917-1989)
- The Reign of Louis XIV (1643 - 1715)

English Literature:
- King Lear by Shakespeare
- The White Devil by John Webster
- Songs of Innocence and Praise by William Blake
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- The Day of the Locust by Nathaneal West
- Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
- An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestley
- The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
- One for Sorrow by Dannie Abse

My rate covers time, travel and materials if necessary. First time cancellation is a one off but afterwards please give me 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel otherwise I will have to charge.
