About Rukshaan

Having studied at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet, I have accumulated high grades over the years which have thankfully allowed me to now study medicine at UCL. At GCSE level, I achieved 14 A* equivalent grades, 9 of which were 9’s. This includes the subjects I intend to teach (Maths, Biology and Chemistry). I then continued to study these three subjects (and French of all things!) and achieved 4 A’s. At A level, I earned an A for EPQ and 3 A*’s for Maths, Biology and Chemistry (so I have a good idea of what I’m doing!). I have properly only been teaching for a year now, initially teaching primary school children maths, English and reasoning in preparation for their 11+ exams. In addition to this, I was a maths teacher at a secondary school, allowing certain children who needed extra practice, the time and guidance to prepare for their end of year exams (or indeed GCSE’s) for year 7s to 11s. In doing so, I learnt to cater the lessons to engage with a more visual approach and taking small steps to encourage pupils to come out of their shell, and be more excited when they make progress. I teach using my iPad, going through notes, handwriting points and sharing my screen so the online lesson is much more interactive and more constructive.

About the lesson

My teaching method revolves around the student's needs. If they have any questions, I can cater to their needs, and even go above and beyond, either by teaching extra content, or at the very least, solidifying their understanding of the topics. I can approach topics through both explanations either by explaining it myself, or allowing the student to work it out for themselves with guidance, before then going through practice questions. If there is something I cannot explain during the lesson, rather than use up the lesson time, I will attempt to go over it and return the next lesson with an answer :)
