About Applejean

I'm a second-year student-athlete at UCLA, where I swim for the Division 1 Women's team while pursuing a double major. I've been a competitive swimmer for most of my life and now compete internationally for the Chinese Taipei national team, including qualifying for World Championship-level meets.
Swimming has shaped who I am — the discipline, the patience, and the joy of watching small breakthroughs turn into real progress. That's exactly what I want to bring to my students. I know what it feels like to be brand new in the water, and I know what it takes to compete at the highest level, so I can meet learners wherever they are on that journey.
Beyond the pool, I've taught private lessons to kids in my community and love helping people build a genuine, lasting comfort with swimming. Whether your goal is safety, fitness, or competition, I bring the same focus and care to every session.

About the lesson

As a UCLA Division 1 swimmer and Chinese Taipei national team member, I teach with the same fundamentals that carry me at the international level — but broken down so anyone can learn them. My focus is on building water confidence first, then layering in clean technique stroke by stroke.
A typical lesson starts with a quick warm-up and skills check, moves into focused drills on one or two elements (breathing, body position, kick, or a specific stroke), and finishes with a fun set that lets students put it all together. I keep instruction patient, encouraging, and tailored to each swimmer's pace.
What sets me apart is that I don't just know how to swim fast — I understand the mechanics behind it and how to communicate them clearly, whether you're a nervous first-timer or a competitive swimmer chasing better times.
Lessons are open to kids and adults at every level, from complete beginners learning to feel safe in the water to experienced swimmers refining their strokes for competition.
