About Annika
Annika Karody is a musician, writer, actor, and teaching artist based in New York City. She previously worked as an editorial assistant at Penguin Random House, where she edited titles such as Rio Cortez's National Book Award-nominated poetry collection "Golden Ax," Barbie Latza Nadeau's long-form journalistic work "The Godmother," and Tim Murphy's novel, "Speech Team." She graduated magna cum laude from UCLA in December 2019 with a B.S. in Human Biology and Society, and a minor in English. She is currently an afterschool tutor and poetry workshop facilitator at Life is Precious: a suicide prevention program for Latina Teens. She has also facilitated writing workshops with Poets House, The Poetry Society of New York, and NYC-DSA. In her free time, you can find her writing, acting, playing music around the city, and just plain old hanging out.

My typical lesson is sixty minutes, and is personalized to the student. I take an approach that is student-centered, working with your ideas to create a piece of writing that is true to your own voice, style, and perspective.
I offer writing tutoring for school assignments, standardized testing, college essays, and creative projects.
