About Oishee

Hi, I’m Oishee! I’m a Materials Science and Engineering major at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign with a minor in Economics. I actually used to think I was bad at STEM, which is a huge part of why I love teaching it now. Engineering taught me to see math and science as systems where everything connects, instead of a bunch of formulas you are supposed to memorize. Once I started understanding why things worked and how the pieces fit together, I genuinely started loving subjects I used to struggle with. That is the feeling I try to give my students. I have been tutoring for over two years, and I love figuring out how each student thinks, breaking difficult ideas into something that actually makes sense, and watching them realize they are much more capable than they thought.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on meeting students where they are and building a foundation of clarity and confidence. I break down complex topics—whether it's SAT strategy or high school chemistry—into manageable steps, tailoring lessons to each student's learning style.

A typical session starts with a quick check-in to see how the student is feeling about their progress. From there, we review previous material, tackle new concepts with guided practice, and end with a short recap or game-plan to reinforce understanding. I always encourage questions and create a judgment-free space so students feel safe making mistakes and growing.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just a tutor, I’m a student too. As an engineering major with a minor in economics, I’ve learned how to stay adaptable and explain things in a way that actually makes sense. I’ve helped students raise their SAT scores by over 200 points and coached younger kids who needed more patience, creativity, or structure than most generic programs can offer.

These lessons are best for middle and high school students, whether they’re preparing for the SAT, struggling with STEM classes, or looking to get ahead over the summer.
