About Athena

I have always loved and been ahead in mathematics and enjoyed the challenges of problem-solving. As an Olympiad competitor myself, I have experience mentoring students for the Junior and Intermediate Maths Challenges, as well as private tutoring for the 11+ exams. Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy - I find it incredibly rewarding to help students understand new concepts and realise the beauty in maths.

About the lesson

As a UKMT Hamilton Olympiad competitor, I offer tutoring in mathematics up to Year 8 (UK), specialising in 11+ preparation. My lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s needs, focusing on problem-solving and a solid understanding of the foundations of each concept. Lessons typically last one hour and are primarily learning-focused. Students are encouraged to spend time reviewing the material outside of classes and detailed study notes will be given for extra support if needed. As exams approach, the lessons will start to include practice questions and exam techniques and eventually past papers — progressing at each student’s own pace. A personalised study plan is made by me to track progress after the first few lessons and build confidence. I hope to create an engaging and supportive learning environment, ensuring that students not only improve their skills but also develop a passion for maths!
