About Chad

Hello, future ukulele enthusiasts! Allow me to introduce myself. I'm a 24-year-old ukulele enthusiast with a decade of experience in playing this charming instrument. My journey with the ukulele began at the age of 14 when I first picked up a soprano ukulele. Over the years, I've honed my skills and progressed to playing a tenor-sized ukulele. What sets me apart as your tutor is my unique path of self-discovery in the world of ukulele music. I'm entirely self-taught, using a variety of resources to master this instrument and learn countless songs by my favorite artists. This journey has equipped me with an in-depth understanding of the trials and tribulations that come with learning the ukulele. I've navigated the challenges and found the easiest ways to overcome them. Now, let me clarify something important: I'm not a graduate of a prestigious music school like Berklee. Instead, I'm just an ordinary person who wholeheartedly enjoys playing the ukulele during my free time. Despite my extensive knowledge of the instrument, I want you to know that I'm right there with you in your learning journey. I understand the best approach for teaching someone with no prior musical experience, focusing on playing songs without the need for complex music notation. I believe that sometimes, experts find it challenging to break things down to their simplest form and convey that knowledge to beginners. In my case, not being a master in the traditional sense actually works to your advantage. I can relate to your starting point and guide you effectively. Beyond my ukulele passion, my background includes being a dedicated student and gaining valuable experience in customer service. I bring professionalism to our lessons, but I'm also laid-back and easygoing. I believe in creating a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment where you can feel confident and inspired. Let's embark on this musical journey together, where the joy of playing the ukulele awaits us!

About the lesson

Unlock the Joy of Ukulele Playing with Personalized Lessons!

Are you eager to embark on a musical journey with the ukulele? Look no further! I offer engaging ukulele lessons tailored to beginners who are brand new to the instrument. Here's what you can expect:

My Teaching Approach:
I employ a dynamic teaching method that combines flipped classroom techniques, interactive presentations, and fun quizzes to make learning the ukulele an enjoyable experience. Each lesson is designed to gradually build your knowledge and skills.

Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Ukulele Basics: We'll start by getting familiar with the ukulele itself – its parts, the names of the strings, and how to tune it properly.
2. Tablature Reading: You'll learn how to read tablature, a vital skill for playing a wide range of songs.
3. Chord Formations: We'll dive into chord formations, focusing on easy beginner chords and strumming patterns.
4. Practical Application: I'll select a simple, beginner-friendly song, and we'll work on playing it together.
5. Assessment: To reinforce your understanding, I'll give you a brief quiz to test your knowledge of the ukulele's parts, string names, and other essentials.
6. Flipped Classroom: Between lessons, you'll practice the chords and techniques we've covered to prepare for our next session.

What Sets Me Apart:
As a tutor, my strength lies in adaptability. I understand that everyone learns differently. Whether you're a visual learner, a hands-on enthusiast, or somewhere in between, I can adjust my teaching style to match your unique needs. You'll receive personalized guidance to ensure you progress quickly and confidently.

Who Are These Lessons For:
These lessons are perfect for absolute beginners with no prior ukulele experience. All you need is a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele, a tuner (an app or clip-on tuner will suffice), and a comfortable space for our lessons.
