i have a teaching experience of 7 year and I have met many student of different Caliber some are sharp who get the concept in one go on the other hand some are very weak who needed to taught the concept twice or thrice .but in my career of teaching i can assure you if you are weak student i can make you brighter student ( it might take some while but will be done for sure )
