About Khalila

Hi there! I'm an enthusiastic biology tutor with a unique background that I bring to my online tutoring sessions. Not only do I have a strong foundation in biology and related fields, but I also have experience in mental health counseling and working with individuals with developmental disabilities. These experiences have taught me how to create a supportive, engaging learning environment tailored to each student's needs. In fact, my love for tutoring started during my downtime at my counseling job, where I found myself naturally explaining concepts to curious clients. If you're a high school student tackling AP Biology or an undergrad navigating advanced topics, I'm here to provide the personalized support you need to excel. I'm confident I can help you unlock your full potential in biology!

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on making biology accessible and engaging for students. I use real-life examples and analogies to help students connect abstract concepts to everyday experiences. I am able to adapt my teaching style to accommodate many different learning preferences, whether visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. In a typical lesson, I begin with a brief review of previous material, introduce new concepts through interactive discussions, and allocate time for practice and questions. I usually like to include a mini "quiz" at the beginning and the end of the session to test your information retention.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my passion for biology and STEM education as a whole. I went to highschool in an underserved community and im currently working on bringing an afterschool stem education program to my former highschool to help my community. I also use my ability to build strong relationships with my students tocreate a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking intellectual risks. My background as a residential cunselor has equipped me with unique insights that I bring to my tutoring sessions.

I tutor students at the high school and undergraduate levels, with a focus on courses like AP Biology, introductory biology, anatomy and physiology and microbiology . I have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and learning needs, and I am committed to helping each student reach their full potential in the subject!
