About Prerna

Cruising through school is not a piece of cake. It's a roller coaster and having gone through it, I know how helpful it can be to have extra support through a tutor. After going to various tutors to seek support during my school years, I've realized that it's so important to have a balance between teaching and making sure your student has fun learning! That's my aim. Not only do I want you guys to slowly improve as we go, I also want you to enjoy each session and feel more confident about what we cover - which is what (in my opinion) is the key to making the most out of your sessions and to do well in school. I've had my fair share of students and I can't begin to explain how rewarding it is to see your student come back to you with a huge smile on their face as they realize the improvement they've made and the way they feel confident with how they're going. It's mostly never about the grades. It's about how you feel proud of how you went and the way you've consolidated your understanding in a steady manner.

About the lesson

During the sessions (ranging 1-2 hours), I spend the first five to ten minutes going through what the student has learned at school and giving them a rough idea of what we'll be covering in the session. The rest of the time will involve a balance between teaching content and allowing the student to work on practice questions while having the opportunity to clear any doubts. Don't worry, the students also have time to wind down and just have fun in between to help them have a break (especially for those 2-hour classes). I've been tutoring for roughly two years now, where I started tutoring as a part of my school's tutor program for Science and English. Currently, I'm working as both a private and company tutor where I teach VCE English, Biology, and English for year 10s!
