About Heeya
Hello! I am Heeya, currently a 2nd-year undergraduate student at University of Calgary, working towards a bachelor's for business. In business, a lot of math is required to succeed, thus I have a lot of exposure and confidence to math in any form. It has always been my strongest subject in school, and with that knowledge, I have picked up on brief tutoring for my friends in the past and even some of their younger relatives. My students have been reliant on me, and have told me that they've made a lot of progress from my help alone. This motivates me a lot, and makes me happy to see others benefiting from my learning. I hope to do the same with any future students through Superprof.

I can work with various teaching methods depending on the student, one go-to method being the ability to incorporate interests to motivate a child to see the fun in math. Ex, using dinosaurs to do division and multiplication.
A typical lesson plan will start with a brief pop quiz to ensure students have learned what has been taught the previous session. Based on the pop quiz, I would then go ahead with teaching either the next unit or stay back and continue to aid in whatever the student has trouble with. This is the pace I would work at, to ensure I don't move too fast or too slow on the student.
I have worked with many different children with many different needs, which makes me familiar with what children want and how they act. I can accommodate to their learning pace and have the patience to help move them forward no matter how slow they learn.
These math lessons are primarily for people ages 5-15, typically K-9, who want to have a head start in their classes or simply need supplementary lessons to ensure they can succeed. Anything in the curriculum of the child is fair game in terms of math, which includes pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, fractions, etc.
