About Chad
I am a former Mathematics Teacher who is currently working on a Master's in Mechanical Engineering (with an emphasis in Fluid Dynamics and CFD). I am passionate about education and learning. I am generally very dissatisfied with the US education system, which is why I am switching career fields. I feel our system, as it is, is failing our students by holding to outdated practices and undercutting student confidence with arbitrary grading procedures. Some schools are better; some are worse. But all are hindered by these practices and procedures to some degree or another. For this reason, I believe that tutoring is an invaluable tool for students to use in navigating this unfortunate system. I am also very sympathetic to students who are burned out by this system and I strive to provide students with the capability and the confidence to succeed, not only in their coursework, but also in life.

I have experience teaching in both this country and China, so I cater to a broad spectrum of learning styles and cultural practices.
In general, I hold to the following basic three-step process:
The first step in achieving a goal is to identify where you are currently. I will help students to achieve this by identifying weaknesses in foundational knowledge, current obstacles to learning (both physical and mental), as well as strengths (both in subject matter and in learning style).
Once established, we'll develop a plan--the plan will be personalized based on the aforementioned strengths and weaknesses, but will in general seek to shore up the foundation while making steady headway forward.
Finally, upon achieving the broader scope of the goals, we will turn our attention to maintaining good habits and developing knowledge permanence.
This is just a very general overview of a much more intricate process. There will always be differences from one student to the next based on the needs and abilities of each student.
I'm happy to work with students of all ages and ability levels. My ability to help will begin to drop off beyond Calculus 2, but I have a wide range of abilities. If there's any question to my capability with a given subject area, please feel free to reach out--I'm happy to do a free consultation via phone/internet to determine if I will be a good fit for the student.
