About Joy
Hello! My name is Joy Annelise, and I am an undergraduate student at Concordia University Irvine pursuing my Single Subject Credential in English. As an English major with minors in Music and Secondary Teaching, I have a deep passion for literature, music, and helping students discover the joys of learning. I love working with students of all ages; however, I have extensive experience tutoring elementary reading using the PRIDE Reading curriculum for students who need extra support. I value patience, making learning fun, and working closely with parents to support their children’s academic growth. Whether you need reading support or literature and writing help, I would love to work with your student to help them build confidence and reach their goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs and learning style. I focus on building confidence in reading, writing, and comprehension skills through clear explanations, guided practice, and engaging activities. For elementary students, I specialize in reading development, phonics support, and fluency building. I have experience using the PRIDE Reading curriculum for students who need extra reading support. For middle and high school students, I offer support with reading comprehension, essay writing, proofreading, homework, and literature assignments. I aim to make lessons structured but comfortable so students feel safe asking questions and improving at their own pace. I would love the opportunity to work with you and your child!
