About Tristen
My goals as a tutor is to listen to students questions and not just answer the question for you, but to first explain what the question is asking conceptually (ex. graphically, etc.), then explain how you can go about solving the problem. I try to continue to explain more conceptual ways to think about your problem if it's not understood the first time until you understand it if that's what's needed. I will also solve more than one of the same type of problem if needed. My main goal is not to just explain the problem and move on, but it's to explain the problem and answer questions by you along the way so it's more of a conversation and you can be fully engaged in what I'm teaching.
One of my biggest struggles in high school was that they teach you the "how" but never the "why" and I've learned there's better ways of going about teaching so you can understand why you're doing what you're doing, otherwise it means nothing to you.
I understand that everyone learns differently and at different speeds, which is why I do my best to meet everyone's individual needs by using personalized teaching methods.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Tristen

My name is Tristen and I am an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Major teaching all math levels up to Calc 3. I received an A in Calc 1, 2, and 3 at my college. I strive to help students personal needs and find a way to relate math with the real world.
I prefer to show graphs for students to help them see what's going on behind the scenes so it's not just a bunch of letters and numbers on paper. Math is always best understood by seeing what the graph is doing, as that's all that math is. Numbers mean nothing without something going on behind the scenes. I try to simplify complex problems in a way where you can interpret what's going on with your problem before attempting to solve it. The best way to solve a math problem is by looking at the problem first and deciding how you're going to solve it by thinking about the given problem conceptually. This will also help you in college and beyond your education when entering the real world with real world problems.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Tristen
