About Tessa
I love teaching and mentoring students!
I have extensive teaching experience from my 6-year career in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC), and have taught a huge variety of students (predominantly teenagers 13-19) with varying abilities and learning styles.
I also have experience working with primary and secondary school students (between 6 and 12 years old) in Maths, English, and study skills.

My approach is adaptive. I change my methods of teaching to suit the needs of the student as closely as possible. Verbal explanations, diagrams, powerpoints, worksheets, and practice questions are my main methods, but all my lessons aim to put the student’s learning first.
I focus on building the student's ability by improving their understanding of subject concepts so they can be confident and develop their skills exponentially. Once solidified, the focus shifts to completing questions to find areas needing more work, with periodic mini-tests to evaluate progress.
My lessons have breaks included to ensure my students can learn comfortably.
