About Gwen
Hi! My name is Gwen, and I'm a biology student at Amherst College with a passion for science, math, and helping others learn. At Amherst College I compete as a pitcher on our Division III softball team! I have played sports all my life and I absolutely love being able to compete at the college level. Outside the classroom, I love reading (my favorite book is, "The Book Thief") as well as doing crafts and of course watching sports!
I spent last summer conducting biomedical research focused on regenerative medicine, giving me real-world experience applying the concepts I teach. I understand that every student learns differently, so I strive to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.
My career aspirations are to go into Dentistry, specifically oral surgery!

Hi! My name is Gwen and I am a rising sophomore Division III NCAA student-athlete and biology major with hands-on research experience, and I enjoy helping students build confidence in STEM subjects. My teaching approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing facts, using clear explanations, practice problems, and real-world examples to make difficult topics easier to grasp.
Every lesson is tailored to the student's individual needs. We begin by identifying areas of difficulty, review key concepts, work through guided examples together, and finish with independent practice to reinforce learning. I encourage questions throughout each session and adapt my pace to match the student's learning style.
What sets me apart is my ability to relate to students who are balancing rigorous coursework, athletics, or other extracurricular activities. As a current college student, I understand the challenges of mastering difficult material while managing a busy schedule, and I share effective study strategies that have helped me succeed academically.
My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and introductory college students taking biology, chemistry, algebra, statistics, or preparing for exams such as the SAT or ACT. Whether you're looking to improve your grades, prepare for an exam, or strengthen your understanding of STEM subjects, I'm committed to helping you reach your goals.
